How do you open the cheat console?
Your choice is remembered
The cheat console is a small text line built into the game that opens at the top of the screen. First you open the console, then you type the code and press Enter. Most codes require you to enable cheats first.
Ctrl + Shift + C
While in game, press Ctrl + Shift + C at the same time.
A white text box opens at the top of the screen.
Type testingcheats true in the console and press Enter.
If you see the message Cheats are enabled, you are ready.
If the console does not open, try the game in windowed mode. On some keyboard layouts the shortcut does not work in full screen.
Command + Shift + C
While in game, press Command + Shift + C at the same time.
Type testingcheats true in the box that opens and press Enter.
On some Mac keyboards Ctrl + Shift + C also works, so try both.
L1 + L2 + R1 + R2
While in game, press L1, L2, R1 and R2 at the same time.
Type testingcheats true in the box that opens and confirm.
You enter the text with the controller's on-screen keyboard.
Using cheats on the console version can disable trophies for that save, so we recommend trying them on a separate save.
LB + LT + RB + RT
While in game, press LB, LT, RB and RT at the same time.
Type testingcheats true in the box that opens and confirm.
Using cheats on the console version can disable achievements for that save, so we recommend trying them on a separate save.
testingcheats true
You have to type this command again every time you start the game. It is not written to your save file and stays active for that session only.
Codes are not case-sensitive, but Sim names and code names must be typed in full.
Shift + left-click menus only appear while testingcheats is on.
If a code did not work, first check whether you typed testingcheats true.
At the mirror you can normally change only clothes and hair. With this code you can change it all, including face, body, age, gender, voice and traits.
Type testingcheats true in the console.
Type cas.fulleditmode in the console.
Shift-click the Sim and use the Modify in CAS option.
Remember that changing the Sim's first or last name also changes how you spell it in relationship commands.
needs testingcheats truePC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox
Sends a Sim to Create a Sim
Shift + left-click → Modify in CAS
After typing cas.fulleditmode in the console, this menu takes the Sim straight to the Create a Sim screen.

needs testingcheats truePC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox

Aspiration and reward traits are removed too. To get them back you have to add each one again.

{islem} {ozellik}
This code overrides the three-trait limit, so you can add as many as you like.
Relationship command generator
Type the names of two Sims, then pick the value and the relationship type. We build the long command for you.
modifyrelationship {sim1} {sim2} {deger} {tur}
Enter the names exactly as they are spelled in the game. A single wrong letter stops the command from working.
Common questions
How do you open The Sims 4 cheat console?
On PC press Ctrl + Shift + C at the same time, on Mac Command + Shift + C. On PlayStation you need to press all four of L1 + L2 + R1 + R2, on Xbox LB + LT + RB + RT. Type the code in the box that opens at the top of the screen and press Enter.
Why is my cheat code not working?
There are three common reasons. Either testingcheats true has not been typed, there is a typo in the code or the Sim's name, or the code was tried on the wrong screen. For example, the FreeRealEstate on command works on the world selection screen, not inside the game.
Do I have to type testingcheats true every time?
Yes. This command is not written to your save file and only lasts for that session. You have to type it again after you restart the game.
Do codes need to be typed in capital letters?
No, commands are not case-sensitive. However, Sim names and the code names of skills, careers and traits must be spelled exactly right. That is why the generators on this page are the safest option.
Do Sim names with special characters cause problems?
You have to type the name in the console exactly as you wrote it in the game. With names that use accented or special letters, the console can trip over your keyboard layout. If you run into trouble, temporarily rename the Sim without those characters and run the command.
Will cheats break my save?
Most codes are safe. The ones to be careful with are build codes like bb.moveobjects and bb.enablefreebuild. If you put a bed or toilet somewhere your Sim cannot reach, the Sim can get stuck, and special lots can stop working properly. It is best to back up your save before big changes.
