Mount & Blade Warband cheats and cheat codes

In Warband, cheats work through key combinations, but first you need to enable cheats in the settings. Without ticking that box, no combination works. Once it is on, you can refill your health in battle, add money on the map and develop your character however you like. Below we have sorted them all by where they work.

How do you open the cheat console?

Your choice is remembered

In Warband, cheats are turned on not inside the game but in the settings on the launch screen. Once enabled, the key combinations work everywhere in the game. What matters is knowing which combination works where, because some only apply in battle and others only on the map screen.

Ctrl-based key combinations
  1. Before starting the game, go to the Game tab in the settings window that opens.
  2. Tick the Enable Cheats box and start the game.
  3. In the game, press the key combination you want. The screen you are on matters, as battle and the map have different combinations.

If you forget to tick the cheats box, the combinations silently fail without showing any error.

Configure > Game > Enable Cheats

Before starting the game, go to the Game tab in the settings window that opens and tick the Enable Cheats box. If this box is not ticked, none of the combinations below will work.

  • Cheats only work in the PC version and in the single-player campaign.
  • Cheats cannot be used on multiplayer servers.
  • Some combinations only apply during battle, and others only on the campaign map.

Common questions

How do I enable Warband cheats?
Before starting the game, go to the Game tab in the settings window that opens and tick the Enable Cheats box. If this box is not ticked, no key combination works.
I press the keys but nothing happens.
There are two possible reasons. Either you did not tick the cheats box, or you are trying the combination on the wrong screen. For example, the money combination only works on the campaign map, and the experience combination only on the character screen.
Why does the same combination do different things?
In Warband, the effect of some combinations changes depending on the screen you are on. The best-known example is the money and experience combination, which gives money on the map and experience on the character screen.
Do cheats work in multiplayer?
No. Cheats only apply in the single-player campaign. You cannot use cheats on multiplayer servers.
Will using cheats break my save?
No. In Warband, cheats are part of the game's own system, so they do not harm the save file. Just keep in mind that they completely change the game's difficulty balance.
Does Bannerlord have the same cheats?
Not entirely. In Bannerlord, cheat mode is turned on from a config file, and things like money are given with console commands rather than keys. Some combinations, such as healing, stayed the same, but knocking down every enemy changed from Ctrl + Shift + F4 to Ctrl + Alt + F4. We have a separate page for Bannerlord cheats, and the combinations on this page are for Warband.
