The Sims 4: Money cheats

Money is the most searched cheat category in The Sims 4. You have three options. Shortcuts that give a fixed amount (motherlode and kaching), the money command that lets you set an exact number, and FreeRealEstate, which makes every lot free when you buy a home. Some of the codes below need cheats enabled first, and the tags under the cards tell you which ones.

Adds 50,000 simoleons to the household

motherlode

The best-known cheat in The Sims 4. Each time you type it, 50,000 simoleons go into household funds, and you can repeat it as often as you like.

  1. Open the console.
  2. Type motherlode in the console and press Enter.
  3. The money goes straight into household funds.

Adds 1,000 simoleons to the household

For when you need a small amount. Gives enough money to pay a bill or buy a single item.

This code does the same job as kaching. It is a classic code left over from the early games in the series.

Sets household money to an exact amount

money 1000000

Sets your funds to the number you type. It does not add, it fixes the funds at that figure. Type money 0 to reset them.

  1. Type testingcheats true in the console.
  2. Type money followed by the amount you want, for example money 250000

Adds money to or takes it from your funds

sims.modify_funds 5000

Adds as much money as you type. Put a minus in front and it is taken away; sims.modify_funds -5000 removes 5,000 simoleons from your funds.

Makes every lot free

FreeRealEstate on

When moving a household, you get even the most expensive home for free. Type it on the world and neighborhood selection screen, not in the game.

  1. Go to the world selection screen to move the household.
  2. Open the console and type FreeRealEstate on.
  3. Every home now shows a price of zero, so pick any one you like.
It does not work if you type it inside the game. You must be in the neighborhood view.

Which cheat gives the most money in The Sims 4?
The money command gives the most in a single command, because it sets your funds to the number you type. For example, type money 1000000 and your household funds become one million simoleons. motherlode adds 50,000 each time and can be repeated as often as you like, but unlike money it adds to what you already have.
My motherlode does not work, what should I do?
The most common reason is a typo. The code is motherlode, not motherload. The second reason is the wrong screen, because the command has to be typed while you are in the game. The money goes to household funds, not into a single Sim's pocket.
How do I use the free house cheat?
Type FreeRealEstate on, not inside the game, but on the world and neighborhood selection screen that opens when you move a household. After the command every home shows a price of zero and you can pick any of them.
Can I lower my money too?
Yes. Type money 0 to reset your funds, or sims.modify_funds -5000 to take 5,000 simoleons out of them. A popular method for players who want a tough start.
