Who is Jiyan?
Jiyan is the commander of the Midnight Rangers, who protect Jinzhou from the Tacet Discords, and the first limited 5★ Resonator in Wuthering Waves. He wields a Broadblade with the Aero element; his real power lies in Qingloong Mode, which he enters with Resonance Liberation. In this mode his attacks turn into lance strikes that count as Heavy Attacks, he becomes resistant to interruption, and he unloads very high damage in a short window. That is why, as the team's main DPS, he does best with supports who boost Heavy Attack damage.

2-piece: ATK +10%
If you don't have well-rolled 5-piece Sierra Gale Echoes yet, 2-piece Sierra Gale + 2-piece Lingering Tunes gives you Aero DMG and ATK together.

Best weapons for Jiyan

Verdant Summit5★ · Signature weapon
Signature weapon. It gives 48.6% Crit. DMG at Lv. 90; its Heavy Attack DMG Bonus passive, which stacks after Intro and Liberation, is tailor-made for Jiyan's damage window.
2
Thunderflare Dominion5★
Augusta's signature weapon. A very strong second option with a Crit. Rate main stat and a Heavy Attack DMG bonus after Intro/Resonance Skill.
3
Ages of Harvest5★

6
Waning Redshift4★

Jiyan skills
Normal Attack
Lone Lance
Consists of a five-hit Aero combo and a Heavy Attack that costs Stamina. During Heavy Attack, holding the button continues with Windborne Strike and releasing it continues with Abyssal Slash; in mid-air, Banner of Triumph extends the chain. Normal Attack hits fill his Forte resource, Resolve.
Resonance Skill
Windqueller
Jiyan dashes forward and deals Aero damage; it can also be used in mid-air. Ideal for closing distance and filling gaps between combos; thanks to his Forte Circuit, its damage rises when he spends Resolve.
Forte Circuit
Qingloong at War
Jiyan builds up to 60 Resolve with attack hits. Spending 30 Resolve raises Windqueller's damage by 20%; if he has 30 Resolve during Liberation, he unlocks the powerful Emerald Storm - Finale, which counts as a Heavy Attack. In Qingloong Mode, Windqueller is enhanced without spending Resolve.
Resonance Liberation
Emerald Storm - Prelude
On cast, Jiyan enters Qingloong Mode: His resistance to interruption increases, and Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and Dodge Counter are replaced by the three-hit Lance of Qingloong. All of these hits count as Heavy Attack damage; this is Jiyan's main damage window.
Intro Skill
Tactical Strike
On entry, he pierces the target in mid-air with his lance, dealing Aero damage and granting Resolve. The Heavenly Balance passive raises ATK for 15 s, so you should always start the rotation with Intro.
Outro Skill
Discipline
After Jiyan leaves the field, the next character's Heavy Attack hits trigger a lance attack that deals Aero damage equal to 313.40% of Jiyan's ATK. It works at most once per second for 8 s, 2 times in total.
Inherent Skill
Heavenly Balance
After the Intro Skill Tactical Strike is used, Jiyan's ATK rises by 10% for 15 s. That is why entering Qingloong Mode after Intro directly raises his damage.
Inherent Skill
Tempest Taming
When Jiyan's attacks hit a target, his Crit. DMG rises by 12% for 8 s. Since he hits constantly, this bonus is active almost the entire fight.
Tune Break
Tune Break: Broadblade
When the target's Off-Tune level is full, Jiyan can perform the Broadblade-specific Tune Break attack. A shared mechanic that opens an extra damage window when the enemy is staggered.
Jiyan sequences (Resonance Chain)
S3 gives the biggest jump with its crit stats, while S6 takes Jiyan to the top by multiplying Finale damage. If your budget is limited, he plays comfortably at S0 too; aiming for the signature weapon before Sequences may be more efficient.
S1
Benevolence
Windqueller can be used one more time and its Resolve cost drops by 15; mobility and Resolve economy get easier.
S2
Versatility
After Intro Skill he gains 30 Resolve and 28% ATK for 15 s (once every 15 s); you reach Finale much faster.
S3
Spectation
Using Windqueller, Emerald Storm or Intro grants Crit. Rate +16% and Crit. DMG +32% for 8 s; one of his most valuable Sequences.
S4
Prudence
Using Emerald Storm raises the whole team's Heavy Attack DMG Bonus by 25% for 30 s; it also helps teammates who rely on Heavy Attacks.
S5
Resolution
The Outro Skill Discipline gains an extra 120% multiplier; its hits grant 3% ATK for 8 s (stacks 15 times), and these stacks fill instantly after Intro.
S6
Fortitude
Heavy Attack, Intro and Windqueller each grant a Momentum stack (up to 2); Emerald Storm - Finale strikes with an extra 120% multiplier per stack.
Mortefi's Outro boosts Heavy Attack damage, and Verina heals and raises the team's damage; an easy lineup to build with the 4★ Mortefi and the standard 5★ Verina, yet still effective.

Jiyan tips
Start the rotation with the Intro Skill Tactical Strike: You gain both Resolve and 10% ATK from Heavenly Balance.
Push Resolve above 30 before Resonance Liberation; that way you can unleash Emerald Storm - Finale, which counts as a Heavy Attack, at the end of Qingloong Mode.
Don't stack crit stats before Energy Regen is around 130%; if Liberation isn't ready every rotation, your damage drops significantly.
You are resistant to interruption in Qingloong Mode; instead of trying to dodge, focus on completing the Lance of Qingloong combo.
Use the Outros of supports who boost Heavy Attack damage (Iuno, Mortefi) right before Jiyan enters the field, so the bonuses line up with his damage window.
Common questions
How do you get Jiyan?
Jiyan is a limited 5★ Resonator and can only be pulled with Radiant Tide while his banner is active. He first arrived in Version 1.0 with the "Prevail the Lasting Night" banner, then returned in the 1.3 rerun and on the 2.3 anniversary and 3.5 selector banners.
What is the best Echo set for Jiyan?
The best option is 5-piece Sierra Gale; the 30% Aero DMG after Intro Skill overlaps with the Qingloong Mode window. Use Nightmare: Feilian Beringal as the main Echo; it raises both Aero and Heavy Attack damage by 12%.
What is Jiyan's best weapon?
His signature weapon Verdant Summit is by far the best: Its Crit. DMG main stat and Heavy Attack DMG Bonus passive are made for Jiyan. Alternatives are Thunderflare Dominion and Ages of Harvest, and on the budget side Aureate Zenith and Waning Redshift.
Is Jiyan still strong?
Yes. Although he isn't at the very top like the newest characters, he remains a strong main DPS in Heavy Attack teams, especially with Iuno and Shorekeeper. His rotation is easy to learn, and he is playable at S0 too.
Which team should you build for Jiyan?
The strongest option is Jiyan + Iuno + Shorekeeper. For a full Aero team, Ciaccona and Rover (Aero) work well, and for a more accessible lineup, Mortefi and Verina.
What materials does Jiyan use?
Ascension needs Roaring Rock Fist from Feilian Beringal, Pecok Flower gathered in Jinzhou and Howler Cores. Skill upgrades use Waveworn Residue, Howler Core and the weekly boss material Monument Bell; the full list with quantities is in the materials section.
