🧱 Minecraft building block recipes
Know what makes what before you build: Every building block recipe, from planks to stairs and stone to bricks, on one page.
Building blocks are the group you will craft most in the game. Most recipes follow the same logic: You arrange one block type on the grid in a set shape and get the stairs, slab, fence or door of that type. Once you learn a shape, it stays the same for oak, stone or deepslate; only the material changes.
Two rules help with efficiency: Slab recipes double your material (three blocks give six slabs), while stair recipes lose some (six blocks give four stairs). The Stonecutter removes that loss and turns a single block into a stair or slab one to one. That is why making stone variants in a stonecutter rather than on a crafting table is cheaper for big builds.
In the list below, every block in the category links to its own page. There you will see the recipe's layout on the grid, how many it gives and which other recipes use that block as an ingredient.

Common questions
Why don't stair and slab recipes give the same number of blocks?
The game balances it on purpose: Making slabs doubles your material, while making stairs wastes a little. For stone variants you can remove that waste with a Stonecutter.
How do you make concrete?
First you make concrete powder from sand, gravel and dye. Concrete powder is not the final block: It hardens into concrete the moment it touches water, so harden it in place before you mine and move it.
