The most searched command in this group is the game rule command. Keeping your items when you die, stopping night from falling or preventing creeper explosions from wrecking the terrain are all one-line rule changes. Rule names changed in 1.21.11 (keepInventory is now keep_inventory), so Tab completion is the safest bet.

The time command works in ticks: One Minecraft day is 24000 ticks, or twenty minutes. There are named shortcuts for day and night, but if you want a specific time in between, you can type the number directly.

The world border command is useful for anyone building a minigame: It slowly shrinks the area over a given time and damages players left outside. Combined with the command that scatters players at random, it makes a full survival tournament.

Common questions

Which command keeps my items when I die?

Just type /gamerule keep_inventory true. Watch the spelling: Since 1.21.11 rule names are written with underscores, and the old keepInventory spelling now gives an error.

How do I keep it daytime all the time?

First bring the day with /time set day, then stop time with /time pause (as a permanent rule, /gamerule advance_time false). The advance_weather rule does the same for weather.
