🎒 Minecraft item commands

Get anything from diamonds to netherite in a single line: Commands that give, clear and enchant items and generate loot.

Minecraft 26.3  6 commands · Java Edition

The give command is the backbone of this group. You need to type the item's in-game ID; if you do not know it, turn on advanced tooltips with F3 and H in Creative mode and read the ID straight off the item.

If you want an enchanted item, there are two ways: The enchant command follows the game's own limits, so it rejects incompatible enchantments or levels above the maximum. For an item without limits, you need to give the enchantment directly as an item component. This syntax changed in 1.20.5: The old tag format gave way to the component syntax in square brackets.

If you want to change a specific inventory slot, the slot command does the job instead of give: You can put armor straight on, delete the item in your hand or place an item in a slot of a nearby chest.

Common questions

Where do I find an item ID?

In Creative mode, press F3 and H to turn on advanced tooltips; the ID appears when you hover over the item. The Tab key also suggests the list while you type the command.

How do I get an enchanted item with a command?

You can add an enchantment to the item in your hand with /enchant. If you want an item beyond the limits, you need to write the enchantment component in square brackets next to the item in the /give command.
