Who is Chisa?

Chisa Kuchiba is a Startorch Academy student from Ashinohara who introduces herself as an ordinary student, yet her eyes can see the structure of things and the threads that hold them together. She wields a Havoc Broadblade that opens and closes like scissors and turns into a saw. She inflicts Havoc Bane on targets marked with Unseen Snare, and once Ring of Chainsaw is full she switches to Chainsaw Mode, performing Sawring attacks that count as Resonance Liberation DMG and shielding the team. She heals the team and her Outro raises the Negative Status stack limit by 3, which makes her the core support of Negative Status teams.

Echo set

Thread of Severed Fate3-piece

3-piece: Inflicting Havoc Bane increases the Resonator's ATK by {0} and grants {1} Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus for {2}s.

Chisa applies Havoc Bane constantly, so the set's 20% ATK and 30% Resonance Liberation DMG bonus are almost always active; her Sawring attacks also count as Liberation DMG.

Havoc Eclipse2-piece

2-piece: Havoc DMG + 10%.

For the two slots next to Thread of Severed Fate: Havoc DMG +10%.

Rejuvenating GlowAlternative · 5-piece

2-piece: Healing Bonus + 10%.

5-piece: Increases the ATK of all party members by 15% for 30s upon healing allies.

If you play Chisa as a pure healer and your main DPS scales with ATK, 5-piece Rejuvenating Glow with Fallacy of No Return hands out an ATK buff to the team.

In the main slot it gives 12% Havoc DMG and 12% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus; it counts toward the Thread of Severed Fate set, and the Core of Collapse it summons deals double damage to targets with Havoc Bane.

Use the 4-3-3-1-1 layout; on 3-cost Echoes Havoc DMG and ATK% deal almost the same damage, and ATK% also strengthens healing and shields. The Liberation empowers Chainsaw Mode, so it should be ready every rotation; aim for about 125% Energy Regen.

    Wildfire Mark 5★

Lupa's signature weapon; it gives 48.6% Crit. DMG, 12% ATK and a Resonance Liberation DMG bonus after an Intro or Liberation, but the extension part that triggers the Fusion buff does not work on Chisa.

  3. 3 Lustrous Razor

Chisa skills

Normal Attack

Reign of Silence

After a two-hit Basic Attack, she continues the Havoc chain with Rending Lunge, Death Snip and Thread Withdrawn. Death Snip, which opens and closes the scissors, counts as Resonance Liberation DMG and heals the whole nearby team. In mid-air she attacks with Severed Facet and Hanging Finality, and after a successful dodge with Eye of Unraveling: Retraction, which halts the target.

Resonance Skill

Fractured Composition

Eye of Unraveling halts the target (Stagnate), deals Havoc DMG and can also be used in mid-air. Once Ring of Chainsaw is full it is replaced by Serrated Loop: It pulls in and halts nearby enemies and puts Chisa into Chainsaw Mode; hold the button to keep the pulling attack going.

Forte Circuit

Sight of Unraveling - Oblivion

Resonance Skill hits, hits after Serrated Loop, Retraction or simply locking on apply Unseen Snare to the enemy for 30 s; while these targets take direct damage from Resonators, they receive 1 Havoc Bane stack every 2 s, and Thread of Bane ignores 18% of their DEF. In Chainsaw Mode she uses Sawring - Blitz hits that consume Ring of Chainsaw and Sawring - Eradication, which shields the team for 30 s; all of these count as Resonance Liberation DMG. If Chainsaw Fever runs out while she is not dealing damage, Chisa enters Burnout and exits Chainsaw Mode.

Resonance Liberation

Moment of Nihility

Deals Havoc DMG, heals the whole nearby team and grants 40 Ring of Chainsaw. During the 15 s Woven Myriad - Convergence, the multipliers of Sawring - Blitz, Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter and Sawring - Eradication increase by 120%, which is why it is used before entering Chainsaw Mode.

Intro Skill

Reverberance - Return

Deals Havoc DMG on entry and grants 20 Ring of Chainsaw. Outside Chainsaw Mode it leads into the 2nd Basic Attack hit, inside it into the 2nd stage of Sawring - Blitz; with the All Ends Here passive, Havoc DMG and Healing Bonus also increase for 12 s.

Outro Skill

Unraveling - Law Zero

Grants Resonant Thread of Closure to the whole nearby team for 20 s: Their attacks raise the maximum Negative Status and Electro Rage stacks the target can carry by 3 for 15 s. Team members who apply a Negative Status or deal such damage gain Thread of Bane for 15 s.

Inherent Skill

Inescapable Fate

If anyone on the team defeats a target with Unseen Snare, the cooldown of Eye of Unraveling resets (at most once every 3 s). In crowded waves this lets you use Chisa's Resonance Skill much more often.

Inherent Skill

All Ends Here

Using her Intro or Liberation grants 20% Havoc DMG Bonus and 20% Healing Bonus for 12 s. If team members with Thread of Bane defeat a target with Unseen Snare, Chisa enters Sight of Unraveling for 3 s, during which the targets the team hits are also marked with Unseen Snare.

Tune Break

Tune Break: Broadblade

When the target's Off-Tune level is full, Chisa can perform the Broadblade-specific Tune Break attack. A mechanic shared by all Resonators that creates an extra damage opportunity on the staggered enemy.

Chisa sequences (Resonance Chain)

S2 gives teammates with Thread of Bane 50% All-Attribute DMG Bonus, so for most players it is the most valuable stopping point. If you want to grow her own damage, aim for S3, and S6 for her ceiling; remember that a large part of her support power comes from Kumokiri.

  1. S1

    Wandering Through the Desolate Corridors

Sawring attacks become immune to interruption; applying Unseen Snare grants 30% ATK for 15 s and hits the target once for 61,803 flat Havoc DMG (HP can drop to 61.8% at most).

  2. S2

Into the Web of Endless Bonds

Ignores 10% of the target's Havoc RES; nearby team members with Thread of Bane gain 50% All-Attribute DMG Bonus.

  3. S3

Across the Confusion of the Long Night

The multipliers of Sawring - Blitz, Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter and Sawring - Eradication increase by 120% (stacks with Woven Myriad); the extra Eradication multiplier from Ring of Chainsaw also grows by 120%.

  4. S4

Severing the Endless Cycle of Tragic Fate

Unseen Snare now applies Havoc Bane every 1 s instead of every 2 s.

  5. S5

Thousands of Lights to Guide the Way Home

Moment of Nihility gains 100% DMG Bonus; Lifethread - Glide consumes 50% less Lifethread - Jetstream.

  6. S6

Thus, Hope is Rekindled with the Rising Dawn

During Sawring attacks she survives a fatal blow with at least 1 HP; the mark, which turns into Unseen Snare - Finality, increases the Negative Status DMG the target takes by 30% and the damage it takes from Chisa by 40%.

Chisa tips

  • Start the rotation with a Resonance Skill or Intro and take the Basic Attack chain all the way to Death Snip to fill Ring of Chainsaw.
  • Always use the Liberation before entering Chainsaw Mode: It grants 40 Ring of Chainsaw and a 120% Sawring multiplier for 15 s.
  • Once Ring of Chainsaw is full, enter Chainsaw Mode with Serrated Loop and hold the attack button to complete the Sawring chain up to Eradication; Eradication shields the team.
  • You can swap characters before the final saw strike's animation ends; the attack keeps going, so you save time in the rotation.
  • Even locking on applies Unseen Snare; keep the target lock on so Havoc Bane is applied without interruption.

Common questions

How do you get Chisa?

Chisa is a limited 5★ Resonator and can only be pulled with Radiant Tide while her banner is active. She first arrived in Version 2.8 with the "Horizon of Dawnbreak" banner and got reruns in Versions 3.1 and 3.3.

What is the best Echo set for Chisa?

3-piece Thread of Severed Fate + 2-piece Havoc Eclipse is the best; she gains ATK and a Resonance Liberation bonus as she applies Havoc Bane. Her main Echo is Reminiscence: Threnodian - Leviathan; a pure healer build uses 5-piece Rejuvenating Glow and Fallacy of No Return.

What is Chisa's best weapon?

Her signature weapon, Kumokiri, is almost mandatory; the 24% All-Attribute DMG Bonus it gives teammates who apply Negative Statuses makes up most of her support power. Wildfire Mark and Lustrous Razor are alternatives, and Autumntrace and Meditations on Mercy work as 4★ options.

Is Chisa strong, and is she a DPS or a support?

She is one of the most valuable supports in Negative Status teams: She heals the team, gives shields, lowers DEF with Havoc Bane and raises the stack limit by 3 with her Outro. Her Sawring attacks also deal considerable damage, but she is not a main DPS on her own; S3 and S6 raise her personal damage significantly.

What team should you build for Chisa?

Yangyang (Xuanling) + Chisa + Suisui, Hiyuki + Lucilla + Chisa and Aemeath + Denia + Chisa are the strongest options. She also fits the Aero Erosion team with Cartethyia and Ciaccona.

What materials does Chisa use?

To ascend her you need Abyssal Husk from Lady of the Sea - Embers of Glory, Summer Flower and the Polygon Core series. Her skills use the Waveworn Residue series, Polygon Core and When Irises Bloom, the weekly material dropped by Fleurdelys.
