Using a fancy nickname in Valorant takes three steps: Understand the two parts of a Riot ID, pick a fitting style in the generator and paste it into your account settings through the Riot Client.
What is the Riot ID format (name#tag)?
Display name: The name other players see in the kill feed and during the match. It must be 3 to 16 characters long and allows Unicode characters.
Tagline: The 3 to 5 character label added after the name with a # sign. The tagline only accepts standard letters and numbers; fancy symbols cannot be used.
Changing your name

Valorant name rules
The display name must be 3 to 16 characters long. Riot's moderation can reject heavily decorated names as "unreadable". The same display name can belong to several players, but the display name and tagline combination must be unique.
Valorant vs PUBG nicknames
Valorant's Riot ID system is fundamentally different from PUBG's classic single-part name. PUBG Mobile has one 16 character field; Valorant has a 16 character display name plus a 3 to 5 character tagline. There is more room in total, but it comes in two parts.
For Unicode support, Valorant's display name is a little wider than PUBG's, but Riot's moderation filter is more aggressive. Some fancy names PUBG accepts are rejected in Valorant as "unreadable".
Changing your name works differently too. PUBG relies on a card bought with UC, while Valorant lets you change your name for free at set intervals in your Riot account settings.
