Getting a fancy nickname into MLBB takes three steps: Pick a style in the generator, buy a Rename Card in the in-game shop and paste it from your profile. Unlike PUBG, you need a card even for the first change; the only exception is the seasonal First Recharge discount.
How to write a fancy nickname in Mobile Legends

Use the generator
Type the name you want into the box in the tool above. It creates hundreds of styles instantly. Press the Copy button next to the one you like and the nickname goes to your clipboard.

Get a Rename Card
In the MLBB main menu, go to Shop, Preparation, Special and buy a Rename Card with Diamonds (about 239 Diamonds). The card goes to your inventory and waits there with no time limit. First Recharge events can offer a discounted version once per season.

Paste it from your profile
Tap the avatar icon at the top left of the main screen. In your profile, tap your current name, paste and confirm the nickname in the text box. Your new fancy nickname is live.

MLBB is the most flexible mobile game when it comes to Unicode. Still, the client's font set does not cover every character block, so some decorations can show as square boxes (□). Safe groups tested by the community:

Seeing square boxes in Mobile Legends?

An MLBB player name must be 4 to 16 characters long and unique across the game. Some fancy Unicode characters count as two code units (a surrogate pair), so staying at 14 or 15 characters is visually safer. Swearing, insults and names that impersonate others are banned by Moonton automatically or by hand; violations lead to a forced rename.
Mobile Legends vs PUBG nicknames
The two games' name systems are similar at their core, with three important differences:
- Unicode tolerance: MLBB is clearly more flexible than PUBG. Even mathematical bold and italic styles that PUBG rejects mostly work in MLBB.
- First change: In PUBG the first name on a new account is free; in MLBB you pay Diamonds even for the first Rename Card.
