How to change your Steam name

Pick or create your name
Click a ready-made name in the list above to copy it, or type your own name into the tool to make a fancy version. Press the Copy button on the style you like.

Edit your Steam profile
Open the Steam client, click your username at the top right, go to the Profile tab and press Edit Profile. The first field is Profile Name.

Paste and save
Paste the name you copied into the Profile Name box and press Save at the bottom of the page. Your new name applies right away on your profile and in every Steam game.
Steam name rules and character limit
A Steam profile name is limited to 32 characters (counted in bytes). English letters and numbers take 1 byte each, so 32 characters fit; accented letters and fancy Unicode take 2 to 3 bytes, so fewer characters fit in that case. The same limit applies to a fancy CS2 nickname, because both use the same Steam profile name.
Steam accepts spaces, so names with several words are allowed. Changes are free and unlimited; only very rapid changes can be limited for a while. Steam also keeps your old profile names, and they can be seen in the name history next to your profile.
What makes Steam different: Fancy fonts work
Mobile games like PUBG and Free Fire mostly show mathematical bold (𝗔𝗕𝗖), script (𝒜ℬ𝒞) and gothic fonts as square boxes (□). Steam accepts almost all of those Unicode blocks. Every style with a green "Works" badge in the tool above works in a Steam profile name.
