Getting a fancy nickname into PUBG Mobile takes three steps: Pick a style in the generator, copy it to your clipboard and paste it in the game with a Rename Card. Technically it is simple, but a few details trip players up again and again.
How to write a fancy nickname in PUBG
-
1
Use the generator
Type the name you want into the box in the tool above. It creates hundreds of styles instantly. Press the Copy button next to the one you like and the nickname goes to your clipboard.
-
2
Get a Rename Card
Buy a Rename Card with UC in the PUBG Mobile in-game shop. The card goes to your inventory and waits there for as long as you do not use it.
-
3
Paste it into the game
Open PUBG Mobile and use the Rename Card from your inventory. Paste and confirm the nickname in the text box that opens. Your new fancy nickname is live.
About the Rename Card
You pay nothing the first time you set a name in PUBG Mobile: A new account gets a default name and the first change is free. Every change after that needs a Rename Card, which you buy in the in-game shop with UC (Unknown Cash). Once bought, the card sits in your inventory with no expiry until you use it.
Fancy symbols that work in PUBG
PUBG Mobile does not publish a list of the Unicode blocks it accepts; compatibility is worked out entirely through community testing. These are the symbols you can use safely:
Square brackets and frames
The most trusted fancy nickname group in PUBG. Examples: 【】 『』 〘〙 〖〗 ◣◥
Ornate brackets and decorative frames
For a flashier look: ꧁꧂ ༺༻ ꧁༒☬ ☬༒꧂ ︻╦╤─
Decoration symbols
The safest and most popular group: 彡 乂 ★ ✦ ♛ ♕ ☠ ⚔ 🔫 ➤ ♥
Symbols that do not work in PUBG
Mathematical bold and italic fonts (𝗔, 𝘈), script (𝒜) and gothic (𝔄) styles usually show up as square boxes (□) in PUBG. Keep them for your social media profiles.

PUBG name rules and character limit
A PUBG Mobile username must be 4 to 16 characters long. Regular spaces are not accepted, so write names as one word or separate them with symbols. Some Unicode characters can count as two, so staying at 14 or 15 characters is the safer choice.
PUBG vs Free Fire nicknames
PUBG Mobile and Free Fire have similar character limits (16 and 15), but they differ in Unicode symbol support. Free Fire is a little more tolerant of ornate brackets and complex decorative symbols than PUBG.
To lower the chance of the "square box" error in PUBG, stick to the styles with a green badge in the generator.
