Brawl Stars nickname generator

Styles built for Brawl Stars' 15 character limit and #tag system, plus ready-made nicknames.

In the Brawl Stars arena, a name that gets noticed is as much a part of your identity as your trophies. The Brawl Stars nickname generator above turns your name into styles that fit Supercell's 15 character name field. Brawl Stars' official rule is "letters, numbers and spaces", but in practice square brackets and many basic decoration symbols get through the filter. The badges on the result cards show which styles are most likely to be accepted.

How to make a fancy nickname in Brawl Stars

Changing your name in Brawl Stars is a short three-step process. There is no separate item like a Rename Card; you change it straight from your profile. The first change is free, and each change after that costs 30 Gems more than the last.

  1. 1

    Use the generator

Type the name you want into the box in the tool above. It creates hundreds of styles. Press the Copy button next to the one you like and the nickname goes to your clipboard.

  2. 2

    Open your profile

Tap the avatar icon at the top left of the Brawl Stars main screen. On the profile screen, tap your current name. This option unlocks after level 5; on new accounts it shows as locked.

  3. 3

    Paste and confirm

Paste the nickname and press Confirm in the text box that opens. The first change is free. Later changes cost more Gems each time (30, 60, 90 and on). If the name does not pass the filter, the game warns you; try another style.

The Player Tag (#TAG) and your name are different things

Supercell automatically gives every Brawl Stars account a #TAG (for example #9PYLQ8U). This tag cannot be changed and only uses these characters: 0, 2, 8, 9, P, Y, L, Q, G, R, J, C, U, V. What you can change is the player name others see. The tag is the account's permanent ID.

Fancy symbols that work in Brawl Stars

Supercell's official rule says the name field accepts only "letters, numbers and spaces". In community practice, though, the moderation filter is not as strict as it looks, and many symbol groups get through. Safe groups that were tested:

Square brackets and frames

The group with the highest acceptance rate in Brawl Stars: 【】 『』 〘〙 〖〗 ◤◥ ◣◢

Basic decoration symbols

Single decorative characters usually pass when added before or after the name: ★ ✦ ♛ ☠ ⚔ ➤ ♥ 彡 乂

Ornate brackets (partial support)

Brackets like ꧁꧂ and ༺༻ get through in some versions and are rejected in others. No guarantee: ꧁꧂ ༺༻ ☬

Styles that do not work in Brawl Stars

Mathematical bold and italic Unicode (𝗔, 𝘈, 𝒜), gothic (𝔄), script styles and emoji (🔥 💀 ⚡) are rejected by the name filter. Old colored name codes like <c2>Nick</c> no longer work; Supercell dropped support for that system.

Brawl Stars name rules and character limit

A Brawl Stars player name must be 3 to 15 characters long. Supercell's official definition for the name field is letters, numbers and spaces; the rule is not strictly enforced, but emoji and mathematical Unicode fonts bounce off the automatic filter. Swearing, insults, impersonation and religious or political provocation are banned, and Supercell force-renames or bans the account in those cases.

The name change option appears in your profile at player level 5. On new accounts you cannot change your name before reaching that level; the name chosen at sign-up is used by default.

Brawl Stars vs PUBG nicknames

The two games handle names in clearly different ways:

  • Character limit: PUBG allows 4 to 16, Brawl Stars 3 to 15. Brawl Stars gives you one character less to work with.
  • Symbol tolerance: PUBG largely accepts square and ornate brackets. Brawl Stars officially lists only letters, numbers and spaces; in practice it accepts more, but inconsistently.
  • Cost: PUBG makes the first change free and later ones need a Rename Card bought with UC. Brawl Stars also makes the first change free, then each change costs 30 Gems more.
  • Identity: In Brawl Stars your display name can change; the permanent ID is the #TAG. In PUBG the Character ID plays a similar role, but the nickname is the only field shown in the game.

Frequently asked questions

Is changing your name in Brawl Stars free?

The first change is completely free. Each change after that costs 30 Gems more than the one before: 30 Gems for the 2nd, 60 for the 3rd, 90 for the 4th and so on.

When does the name change option unlock?

Once your account reaches player level 5, the option appears in your profile. On new accounts it shows as locked.

Is the Player Tag (#TAG) the same as my name?

No. The Player Tag is the unique 8 character account ID next to your name (for example #9PYLQ8U). Supercell assigns it and it cannot be changed. You can only change your display name.

Do fancy Unicode symbols work?

Supercell's official rule accepts only letters, numbers and spaces. In practice square brackets and many basic decoration symbols get through; emoji and mathematical bold or italic styles are rejected.

Are accented letters accepted?

The official rule does not list them, but in practice accented letters are usually accepted. The filter is not always consistent; if a name is rejected, try the plain Latin form of the same style.
