"Fist of Thunder" The good-natured boxing coach of Jinzhou
Yuanwu runs a boxing gym in Jinzhou where he teaches the Leihuangquan martial art and healthy living; his calm, gentle manner earns him the respect of everyone in the neighborhood. He is a 4★ Resonator who wields Gauntlets with the Electro element, and most of his attacks scale with DEF instead of ATK. His Resonance Skill plants a Thunder Wedge on the field and sets up a Thunder Field around it; as the on-field character hits enemies inside this field, the Wedge deals extra Electro DMG with Coordinated Attacks. His Outro greatly reduces enemies' Vibration Strength, so he plays as a sub DPS who spends little time on the field and does his work in the background.
As a 4★ Resonator, Yuanwu can drop from every standard and limited Convene banner; most recently he was among the featured 4★ characters on Jingran's "Where Santu Beckons" banner in the second half of Version 3.6 (September 10-29, 2026). You can also get a free copy by completing the permanent "Rumbling Hollows" event that appears after Tower of Adversity unlocks. To complete his Sequences, however, you need to pull extra copies from banners.

5-piece: Increase the Resonator's Coordinated Attack DMG by {0}. Upon a critical hit of Coordinated Attack, increase the active Resonator's ATK by {1} for {2}s.
Raises the Coordinated Attack DMG of the Thunder Wedge by 80%; when these attacks crit, they give the on-field character 20% ATK for 4 s. The best set for Yuanwu.
2-piece: Energy Regen + {0}.
5-piece: Upon using Outro Skill, increases the ATK of the next Resonator by 22.5% for 15s.
If you want to play more support-focused, it raises the next character's ATK by 22.5% after the Outro.
2-piece: Electro DMG + 10%.
5-piece: Electro DMG + 15% after releasing Heavy Attack or Resonance Skill. This effect stacks up to 2 times, each stack lasts 15s.
The option that prioritizes personal Electro damage; it provides Electro DMG that stacks after Resonance Skills and Heavy Attacks.
Nightmare: Tempest Mephis
In the main slot it gives 12% Electro DMG and 12% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus and can be used with the Empyrean Anthem set; it contributes directly to Thunder Wedge damage.
Yuanwu's attacks scale with DEF, so pick DEF% instead of ATK on 1-cost Echoes and in substats. His Liberation costs 125 energy, so do not neglect Energy Regen entirely.
The standard banner's 5★ Gauntlets. Its ATK main stat does little for Yuanwu, who scales with DEF, but its 12.8% Energy Regen passive and the damage bonuses that Resonance Skill and Basic Attack hits give each other are useful.
The best 4★ option: Its 61.6% DEF main stat at Lv 90 fits Yuanwu's scaling perfectly, and it also gives 20% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus for 15 s after an Intro Skill.
A 4★ with a 20.25% Crit. Rate main stat; it provides 18% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus for 15 s on Resonance Skill.
A 4★ with a 51.8% Energy Regen main stat; it refunds 8 Concerto Energy on Resonance Skill to get the Outro ready faster.
An easy-to-get 3★ option; a budget-friendly solution with a 38.5% DEF main stat and a permanent 12% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus.

Totals are calculated from game data: Every ascension stage from 1→90, skills 1→10 and every skill tree node.
Consists of a five-hit Electro combo, a Stamina-consuming Heavy Attack, a plunging attack and a Dodge Counter. In the Lightning Infused state these attacks are enhanced and reduce Vibration Strength much more efficiently.
Yuanwu summons a Thunder Wedge that lasts 12 s and sets up a Thunder Field around it. As the on-field character hits enemies inside this field, the Wedge deals Electro DMG with a Coordinated Attack every 1.2 s; Rumbling Spark or the Liberation detonates the Wedge to deal Resonance Skill DMG.
While the Thunder Wedge is on the field, Yuanwu gains 6 Readiness per second, even when off the field, and 5 per Coordinated Attack hit (up to 100). Once Readiness is full, holding the Resonance Skill enters the Lightning Infused state with Rumbling Spark: His interruption resistance increases, his attacks speed up, and Thunderweaver unlocks after a Heavy Attack or Dodge Counter; a short press performs Thunder Uprising instead of the Wedge.
Yuanwu grants all nearby teammates the Lightning Infused state for 10 s, then lands a powerful Electro strike. It also detonates the Thunder Wedge on the field, so using it while the Wedge is in place is the most efficient.
Attacks the target on entry, dealing Electro DMG. With S2, this attack also grants Yuanwu an extra 15 Resonance Energy.
As Yuanwu leaves the field, he rains lightning down on the target area and greatly reduces the Vibration Strength of the enemies hit. Ideal for breaking tough enemies that are hard to stagger.
The DMG multiplier of Thunder Uprising increases by 40%, and it reduces enemies' Vibration Strength more efficiently. It turns this short-press attack, available once Readiness is full, into both a damage and a breaking tool.
The areas of the Thunder Field and Thunder Uprising expand greatly. In addition, if Readiness is not full when Yuanwu leaves the field in combat, he automatically leaves a Thunder Wedge where he stands; you will not forget the Wedge during quick swaps.
When the target's Off-Tune level is full, Yuanwu can perform the Gauntlets-specific Tune Break attack. A shared mechanic that opens an extra damage window on the staggered enemy.
The most valuable Sequence is S4, which gives the on-field character a shield equal to 200% of his DEF with the Liberation. S3 raises Coordinated Attack damage, S6 raises the DEF of the team inside the Thunder Wedge's area, and the attack speed from S1 makes the Lightning Infused window smoother.
Basic Attack and Heavy Attack speed increases by 20% in the Lightning Infused state.
The Intro Skill Thunder Bombardment grants Yuanwu an extra 15 Resonance Energy.
When the Coordinated Attacks of the Thunder Wedge hit, they deal extra damage equal to 20% of Yuanwu's DEF.
Using the Liberation gives the on-field character a shield equal to 200% of Yuanwu's DEF for 10 s; one of his most valuable Sequences.
Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus increases by 50% while the Thunder Wedge is on the field.
All teammates within the area of the Thunder Wedge gain 32% DEF for 3 s.

For damage, 5-piece Empyrean Anthem is the best; it raises the Coordinated Attack DMG of the Thunder Wedge by 80%. Use Nightmare: Tempest Mephis as the main Echo; for a more support-focused build, Moonlit Clouds also does the job.
He has no signature weapon; the standard 5★ Abyss Surges stands out as the best option thanks to its energy passive. With its DEF main stat, the 4★ Amity Accord suits him very well; Stonard, Marcato and the 3★ Guardian Gauntlets can also be used.
Most of Yuanwu's attacks scale with DEF instead of ATK. That is why DEF% is chosen on 1-cost Echoes and in substats; Sequences like S3 and S4 also grant extra damage and shields based on his DEF.
He is a 4★ sub DPS who spends little time on the field, deals damage in the background with Coordinated Attacks and is very effective at breaking Vibration Strength. He works especially well next to DPS characters who feed on Coordinated Attacks, like Jinhsi (Spectro) or Xiangli Yao (Electro); being free to obtain is also a big plus.
To ascend him you need Hidden Thunder Tacet Core from Tempest Mephis, Terraspawn Fungus and the Ring series. His skills use the Cadence series (from Seed to Blossom), Rings and Unending Destruction, the weekly material dropped by Scar.
