Cities: Skylines II: Developer mode

Developer mode is the game's test menu, and you turn it on with a single line in Steam. Once it is on, the Tab key brings up a menu on the left where you can change building speed, your city's level progression, the region's climate and the time of day. You can also trigger events such as forest fires and disease by hand. The Home key lets you place objects you normally cannot reach on the map, vehicles included. This was not designed as a cheat menu, so do not tinker with it without backing up your save.

Most codes here need cheats turned on first. See the section on how to open the console.

Developer mode: Common questions

How do I turn on developer mode?
Right-click the game in your Steam library, open Properties and type -developerMode into the Launch Options box. The capital M matters. After you start the game and load a save, press the Tab key.
What is in the menu?
The simulation tab has settings for building speed, city level, climate and time of day. You can trigger events such as forest fires and disease by hand. The Home key opens the object placement list.
Will it break my save?
It can. This menu was made for developers rather than players, and it changes the simulation directly. Make a separate copy of your save before you experiment.
Can I enter console commands?
No. The game has no console commands, and the tilde key is reserved for something else. Developer mode offers a menu, not commands.
