Minecraft /damage command
Deals the type and amount of damage you choose to a target; you can name the source too.
Syntax
/damage <target> <amount> [<damageType>]
/damage <target> <amount> <damageType> at <location>
/damage <target> <amount> <damageType> by <entity>
Parts in square brackets are optional, parts in angle brackets are required. You do not type the brackets: Put your own value in their place.
Arguments
| Argument | What it does |
|---|---|
| <amount> | Half a heart is 1, and 20 is full health. |
| <damageType> | Damage type: fall, magic, lava, player_attack and so on. |
| by | The entity dealing the damage; the death message and aggro follow it. |
Examples
/damage @s 6 magic
Deals three hearts of magic damage to you; armor does not block it.
/damage @e[type=zombie,limit=1,sort=nearest] 20 player_attack by @s
Deals heavy damage to the nearest zombie as if you had hit it.
Good to know
- Added in 1.19.4.
- Armor and enchantments kick in depending on the damage type; that is the difference from the kill command.
