Valve has released a new Counter-Strike 2 update with changes to gameplay and map scripting. The headline change is that bomb defusal in Retakes mode can now finish instantly under certain conditions.

According to information Oyun Günlüğü obtained from Counter-Strike 2’s patch notes, bomb defusal in Retakes mode will now complete instantly when there is sufficient time remaining in the round and no active utility remains to prevent the defuse. Freeze time and the round restart delay in the mode have also been reduced.

Pet chickens can now do tricks

With the update, players who ping their pet chickens during freeze time will request a trick from them. In addition, pet chicken names are no longer displayed when the customized item text game option is set to hidden.

New Entities structure for map scripting

On the map scripting side, the update brings a broad overhaul. Instance.Precache now accepts entities to precache. Entities has been added as a new top-level export, alongside Entities.Spawn, Instance.OnBotControl, CSPlayerController.IsControllingBot, CSPlayerController.GetControlledBotPawn and CSPlayerPawn.Reset.

Instance.ConnectOutput has been moved to Entities and now accepts a config object, while Instance.DisconnectOutput has also moved to Entities. Instance.EntFireAtName has been renamed to Entities.FireInput, Instance.FindEntitiesByName to Entities.FindByName, Instance.FindEntitiesByClass to Entities.FindByClass and Instance.EntFireAtTarget to Entity.FireInput. The moved and renamed methods remain available in their original location as deprecated, while Instance.FindEntityByName and FindEntityByClass have been deprecated.

Calling a method on an invalid, removed entity now reports that the entity is invalid, and ConnectOutput logs a warning when the target has no output with that name.
