Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey, the next entry in the series. Originally set to launch on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027, the game will now arrive on May 20, 2027.
According to the statement Oyun Günlüğü relayed from Santa Monica Studio’s official X account, the studio said it has been deeply grateful for the excitement around Faye’s journey through the Everywhen since the game’s reveal in June. The studio added that it does not take for granted the trust placed in it to make an extraordinary experience worthy of its fans’ passion and dedication.
Final touches before launch
Santa Monica Studio said the delay decision was made with this in mind. The studio said it will make the most of each moment until the new date by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential. The team thanked players for their patience and said it will share more updates soon.
Faye takes the lead
God of War Laufey stars Faye, the wife of series protagonist Kratos, once again played by Deborah Ann Woll. Based on a 23-minute gameplay reveal earlier this year, the game puts more focus on acrobatic action than the other recent God of War games.
