XBOX has released a major performance and design update for its PC app on Windows. The refreshed app is available starting today for players in the XBOX Insider program. The company is also bringing its refreshed XBOX web experience to more players and updating XBOX cloud gaming apps on supported TVs and VR headsets.
According to information Oyun Günlüğü obtained from XBOX Wire, Jason Beaumont, VP of XBOX Experiences, said these changes are part of the company’s work to make XBOX faster, simpler and more familiar wherever people play. Beaumont noted that the team has heard where the experience could be better, that there is more to do, and that player feedback will continue to shape what comes next.
A faster app with quicker page loads
With the update, the XBOX PC app launches up to 60% faster. Pages like Home, Store and Game Pass load up to 50% faster, while in-app windows open up to 65% faster. XBOX noted that the performance results are based on its own testing and may vary depending on device, internet connection, system configuration and usage.
Library, friends and search get an overhaul
The app’s Library now offers simpler navigation, updated filters and new ways to organize games. Friends and social features are now part of the main navigation, making it easier to see what friends are playing, start a chat or join a party. Search has also been expanded, letting players search across XBOX from one place, including installed games, add-ons and people. Game cards, Home, Settings and animations have been refreshed with a cleaner look.
Web and cloud gaming experience also updated
XBOX will automatically bring the refreshed cloud gaming experience on the web, previewed by XBOX Insiders earlier this year, to more players over the next few weeks. Those who want to try it sooner can head to play.xbox.com. The new version includes a Library tab that brings together cloud games players own or access through XBOX Game Pass, with options to sort and filter by recently played, genre and input options. It also offers a desktop mode for larger screens, dark and light modes, and five new high-contrast options for different visual needs.
The company has also started bringing the refreshed look and navigation to XBOX cloud gaming apps on supported TVs and VR headsets.
