Fortnite has introduced a surprising new reward with its Treasure Hunters mini season. Pirate Shop Access, which drops from chests in Battle Royale with an extremely low chance, lets players claim almost everything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop for free for 14 days.
Players who find the reward get two separate passes rather than one. The first can be used in 2026 and the second in 2027. Each pass lasts 14 days from the moment it is activated, and every cosmetic claimed during that window stays on the account permanently.
How to get Pirate Shop Access
Pirate Shop Access is a random drop from chests opened in Battle Royale matches during the Treasure Hunters mini season. Because the drop rate is extremely low, only a handful of players have found it so far. A large notification appears on screen when the reward drops, and a separate screen confirms the unlock once the player returns to the lobby after the match. In squads, when one player finds the reward by opening a chest, every teammate also receives the same access.
How to activate the Pirate Shop
Players who earn access can use it through the Plunder the Shop option that appears in the bottom-left corner of the Item Shop. Selecting Activate Now starts the 14-day window, and eligible items show a “Free” label during that period. The first pass can be activated between November 1 and December 15, 2026, while no specific window has been announced for the 2027 pass yet. Since the timer starts at activation, players can wait for the items they want to appear in the shop before using their pass. For example, the One Piece collaboration skins, which usually cost between 1,600 and 1,800 V-Bucks, can be claimed for free if they are in the shop during the window.
What is excluded?
Along with skins, emotes, Jam Tracks and other cosmetics sold for V-Bucks are included. Real-money packs, gifting, and pass levels and rewards are excluded. Players can claim only one free sidekick they do not already own, and the reward cannot be transferred to another account. Epic Games also encourages players to enable two-factor authentication to keep the reward secure.
