Remedy Entertainment more than tripled its revenue following the September launch of Control Resonant. The Finnish studio’s third-quarter revenue for July-September 2026 rose 226% year-on-year to €39.6 million.

According to the Eurogamer report relayed by Oyun Günlüğü, Remedy announced in its January-September 2026 business review, published on November 3, that it closed the quarter with an operating profit of €0.6 million, compared to an operating loss of €16.4 million in the same quarter last year. EBITDA climbed from €0.7 million to €6.8 million, while revenue for the first nine months of 2026 grew 48.2% to €62.9 million.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the launch as “a defining milestone for the company,” noting that Control Resonant is Remedy’s first self-published game of this scale built on its own IP. Quarterly revenue included the game’s pre-orders and its first seven days of sales, with game sales and royalties totaling €35.3 million.

Control Resonant passes one million in three weeks

Released digitally on September 24, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X/S and Mac, Control Resonant passed one million copies sold worldwide on October 15, the day of its physical release. That makes it the fastest-selling game in Remedy’s history.

According to Remedy, as of November 2 the game holds a Metacritic critic score of 83 and a user score of 8.8, along with a 91% positive user rating on Steam and an average of 4.7/5 on PlayStation 5. Players also voted it the top new game of September 2026 in PlayStation’s Players’ Choice poll. Eurogamer noted that while the game was artistically impressive, it divided critics, with some feeling its story lacked the narrative bite of its predecessor.

Nearly half of players are new to the series

The US was Control Resonant’s biggest market on both PC and consoles, accounting for nearly half of all sales. On PC, Chinese-speaking regions and the UK ranked second and third, while on consoles the US was followed by the UK and Canada. Brazil also made the top three by console units.

Based on Remedy’s analytics, close to 50% of players were new to Control. The company said reaching new players was a key goal for the game and that the early results point to a growing audience for the franchise and the studio. Outstanding wishlists currently stand at 2.4 million.

The launch also gave the original Control a boost: The 2019 game’s Q3 sales exceeded both the same period last year and the first two quarters of 2026. Remedy added that it backed Control Resonant with the largest marketing investment in its history, partnering with PlayStation, NVIDIA and leading content creators.

Max Payne 1 & 2 remake is next in line

Gaudechon said the studio’s priority now is to get Control Resonant into the hands of more players. Remedy’s other projects are also moving forward: The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, published by Rockstar Games, is in full production, while a new self-published project is in production readiness. Post-launch development on Control Resonant is also ongoing.

Remedy kept its 2026 outlook unchanged, expecting full-year revenue and EBITDA to grow from last year. Its long-term targets include doubling its 2024 revenue by 2027 and reaching a 30% EBITDA margin by 2027.
