Arkane Studios, the French developer XBOX has put up for sale, has drawn offers from multiple companies. Ubisoft is among the bidders for the studio behind the Dishonored series and Deathloop.
According to a Bloomberg report covered by Oyun Günlüğü, at least two other gaming companies besides Ubisoft have made offers to Microsoft to acquire Arkane Studios. Citing people familiar with the negotiations, reporter Jason Schreier says XBOX has also weighed selling the studio to its management.
Terms of the offers remain unknown
The terms of the bids haven’t been disclosed, and XBOX has not yet reached an agreement with any potential buyer. A deal would likely allow Arkane to finish its work on Marvel’s Blade, which was announced in 2023 and is expected to release within the next year or two.
An XBOX spokesperson said the company is exploring options ahead of a December deadline and declined to comment further. A Ubisoft spokesperson didn’t immediately comment.
Part of XBOX’s restructuring plan
Based in Lyon, Arkane operates under Bethesda Softworks, which XBOX acquired in 2021. Its sister studio, Arkane Austin, was shut down in 2024 following the release of Redfall, a significant flop.
In July, XBOX announced plans to divest Arkane and four other studios as part of what CEO Asha Sharma has called a “reset” of the gaming division’s business. Although reports last month suggested Arkane could be shuttered, sources say a deal is far more likely.
