Gaijin Entertainment has announced that its hardcore shooter Active Matter, released in September, has surpassed 500,000 copies sold worldwide across PC, PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.
According to information Oyun Günlüğü obtained from Gaijin Entertainment, the figure combines sales on Steam and Gaijin.Net with the console versions of the game. XBOX currently represents the largest share of Active Matter players.
Realistic combat meets supernatural threats
Active Matter is a PvE, PvPvE and PvP hardcore shooter that blends realistic modern military combat with supernatural threats, anomalous environments and high-stakes raids, forcing players to decide how much gear they are willing to risk losing. Players can venture into quantum-unstable zones solo or as part of a team, fighting hostile operatives, terrifying creatures and the environment itself while searching for valuable loot.
Steady sales since launch
“Half a million copies is a very strong result for a hardcore game like ours,” said Anton Yudintsev, co-founder of Gaijin Entertainment. “What is especially encouraging is that sales have remained remarkably steady since launch, without the sharp opening-week spike that is typical for many premium games. This kind of long-tail performance is much more characteristic of hardcore titles, which tend to grow through word of mouth and a committed community.”
Yudintsev added that this shows there is a substantial audience looking for this kind of experience. “Active Matter is only at the beginning of its journey. We are looking forward to expanding the game with new content and features over the coming years,” he said.
First major content update coming this year
The next major step for Active Matter arrives later this year with the game’s first major post-release content update. It will introduce new maps, weapons, monsters and bosses, giving players new threats to face. The update will also bring visual improvements, further enhancing the atmosphere of the Active Matter world.
Gaijin Entertainment says more details about the update will be revealed soon on the official Active Matter website.
