Minecraft /say command
Sends the message to all players with a [Name] prefix; it also works from a command block.
Syntax
/say <message>
Parts in square brackets are optional, parts in angle brackets are required. You do not type the brackets: Put your own value in their place.
Arguments
| Argument | What it does |
|---|---|
| <message> | The text that goes to everyone. Target selectors inside it turn into player names. |
Examples
/say Server restarting in 5 minutes
An announcement lands in everyone's chat.
/say @a are you ready?
Expands the selector into the names of online players.
Good to know
- If you want a formatted, colored announcement, tellraw is more flexible.
- For big text in the middle of the screen, see the title command.
How do I run this command?
Press T in game to open chat (or press / directly), type the command and press Enter. While typing, Tab completes the options. This command counts as a cheat: It needs cheats enabled in a singleplayer world, and operator permission on a server (operator (level 2)).
