These are the official settings the game itself offers. When you set up a new farm and open the advanced options section, you can change the profit margin and a few other settings. It is a completely safe route that does not affect your save or turn off achievements. Players who want a harder game use the same screen.

Where do I open the advanced options?
When you start a new game, the character creation screen has an advanced options section. You make the settings there, and they cannot be changed after the game starts.
What does the profit margin do?
It sets the price of the goods you sell as a percentage. A high margin makes the game easier, while a low margin makes the economy harder and offers a more challenging game.
Do these settings turn off achievements?
No. Because they are the game's own official options, achievements can still be earned as normal.
