Stronghold Crusader: Original and HD cheats

In the original Stronghold Crusader from 2002 and in the later HD version, cheats are switched on from the main menu. Hold Ctrl and type triblade2002 to turn on cheat mode, and the Alt key combinations then work in a game. This section only lists the keys that more than one source agrees on. The method does not work in the Definitive Edition, where you should use the chicken icon menu instead.

Original and HD cheats: Common questions

How do you turn on cheats in Stronghold Crusader HD?
On the main menu, hold Ctrl and type triblade2002. Type the digits with the number row above the letters, not the numpad. Then start a game and use combinations such as Alt + X.
Do these cheats work in the Definitive Edition?
No. Sources that tried the old method in the Definitive Edition report that it does not work. In the Definitive Edition the cheats are in the chicken icon menu reached through Esc.
What does Alt + K do in the old version?
Sources disagree here. Some lists say it makes every building free, others say it destroys the enemy castle. Since we could not verify it, we left this combination out.
I type the code but nothing happens.
Keep Ctrl held down until you have typed the whole code, and do not type the digits on the numpad. Some players also report that the method no longer works in the latest patch of the HD version on Steam.
