What is Copper Lantern used for?
The copper lantern is one of the strongest light sources in the game: It gives light level 15, which completely stops hostile mobs from spawning around it. It does the same job as an iron lantern; the difference is its green glow.
It is made with a copper torch in the middle and a copper nugget in each of the eight squares around it. So you need a copper torch first: Break an ingot into nuggets, make the torch, then move on to the lantern.
Like other copper blocks, it oxidizes over time and shifts from orange toward teal, but its light never drops at any stage. That is where it differs from the copper bulb, whose light falls as it oxidizes; the lantern always stays at full brightness. Wax it with honeycomb to lock its look, and scrape the wax off with an axe if you change your mind.
