Loftia, the solarpunk life-sim MMO from Australian independent studio Qloud Games, has launched into early access on PC and Mac via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game is set in a world of floating islands, and a Nintendo Switch version is also planned.

According to information Oyun Günlüğü obtained from Qloud Games, the early access launch marks the latest milestone in Loftia’s journey. The game began as a dream shared by the studio’s co-founders Michael Su and Martina Qin and went on to run a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign for an Australian game. It then peaked as the most-played game during Steam Next Fest in October 2026.

Headquartered in Sydney, Qloud Games was founded by couple Michael Su and Martina Qin, who left their corporate careers to pursue their dream of making a game together. The studio has since grown into a team of almost 40 developers with experience across indie and AAA studios around the world.

Community and cooperation over combat

Inspired by games such as Stardew Valley, MapleStory and Club Penguin, Loftia is designed around community, sustainability, creativity and human connection. The game is set among floating islands in the clouds, where players can build a home and grow crops using sustainable farming systems. They can also rescue animals, take on cooperative adventures and contribute to large-scale community projects. Players can enjoy the adventure alone or with friends, in a shared world where everyone progresses at their own pace.

Where many MMOs center their experiences around combat and competition, Loftia focuses on community, cooperation and shared progress. Players live alongside one another in neighborhoods and work together on large-scale world projects. They also interact with systems inspired by real-world sustainability, from renewable energy, hydroponics and aquaponics to recycling and ecology.

The game offers a wide range of character customization options, including various hairstyles and full-body prosthetics. Players can rescue and adopt animals that accompany them on their journey, from capybaras to turtles, and help endangered species such as the Splendid Toadfish. During development, the Qloud team even ventured outside to record the sounds of nature so they could accurately build the game’s ambient environment.

Full release coming next year

Commenting on the launch, Michael Su, co-founder and studio director of Qloud Games, said: “It’s incredible that after four years of development, Loftia is finally available to the public. It’s been a long journey to get to this point, and we’re incredibly proud of the work that the entire team has put into iterating the game and implementing the incredible feedback that we’ve received so far. The job isn’t done yet: We’ll be continuing to make constant improvements and updates to the game through to its full release next year, and continuously beyond that as well. Our vision for Loftia is for it to continue to grow and evolve over time, together with its community, for many years to come.”

Loftia’s price

Loftia launches at a base price of $29.99, and a 17% launch discount brings the introductory price to $24.89. In the EU the game is priced at €28.99 (€24.06 with the launch discount), and in the UK it costs £26.99 (£22.40 with the launch discount). Other regional prices are listed on its Steam and Epic Games Store pages.

Supporting reforestation with One Tree Planted

Loftia is also supporting reforestation efforts through a partnership with environmental non-profit One Tree Planted. A percentage of the profits made from players who purchase One Tree Planted content in-game will be donated to the organization. Since 2014, One Tree Planted has planted 200 million trees with 489 partners across 84 countries and has made 112 cities greener by planting urban trees.

“We’ve always known that we wanted Loftia to not be limited to just being a virtual online world, but for it to also have a positive impact on the world around us. And what better way than to work with an organization that’s actively dedicated to regenerating the natural world?” said Martina Qin, co-founder of Qloud Games.

Billy Dixon, partnerships manager at One Tree Planted, added: “We are deeply grateful for Loftia’s support of One Tree Planted. Through their campaign, they will be supporting critical reforestation projects in areas around the globe most in need of restoration for communities, biodiversity, and the planet.”
